I don't know, LFS is supposed to be a simulator of real life, right? So why would you race with chase view anyway? The closer LFS gets to being like real life, the more things will be added that people won't agree with because it makes it harder for them to race.
I don't have 3 monitors and I see everything just fine, I'm also able to judge where cars are around me from the sound, which I gather isn't the same for chase view.
So I say keep it and I doubt the devs will remove it either. Anyway, as many have said, if the server is forcing the cockpit view just don't race there.
Had a run on it just now, it's not too bad. Needs to be longer though and that tight section is very tight. Also, that hairpin with the bails would disappear if there was a few people racing there.
There's one problem though, after the second last corner "Wrong route" keeps coming up on the screen.
I've attached a screenshot and indicated the corner where "Wrong route" starts to appear.
So if he wants to progress in drifting he should "STOP DRIFTING"? How would that work then?
Obviously those who can't drift shouldn't be answering this guys questions...
I would say, get a good setup and practice more, just like you would to get better at racing, that's what it's all about. I don't use a keyboard to race/drift so I can't really give you tips on that. I don't know how lads who use keyboards can control a slide but they do it, so it is possible.
Keep trying, it took me a long time and I'm not even that good but you'll get there.
Ok, so from the tips and comments here, thanks all, I started from scratch and made a new vid. Nothing special but this one had some effort put into it.
Btw, this is my first attempt at making an LFS vid so expect better next time, I am.
Comments on the video are welcome and we already know the driving isn't the best so no slaggin'...
Anyway, here it is...(double click video for full screen)
:yummy:
I'd definitely be interested in being a beta tester for this new system of yours. Just finished reading the BEAT test agreement, all seems fairly obvious to me. Anyway, could you add me to your list of potential testers, please.
Not sure where to post this, thought this would be the best place.
This is the first crash I've had using LFS.
Anyway, I was on the autocross with a layout and pressed F10 to see if I had damage and LFS crashed. There was no big impacts before it, I only tapped the barrier and was slowing down, pressed F10 and black screen with the sound looping. I use F10 alot so not too sure why it happened.
Here's the crash thing...
Using patch X btw and on a server not single player.
You might want to fix your lights and front grill. They are under the color so they'll be green on the car. Just move those layers above the color layers in the Layers window.
Nice, I never thought that was possible. Never tried to find out either though, cheers for that.
I'm still finding out how to do everything in shift+U mode, that's probably why it takes me time to get a good shot. One thing I'd like to know, since your here, is it possible to change the field of view without the slider actually on the screen? I was trying to start with a long shot and zoom out as they cars get closer but I couldn't get it. I know you can changed the height and roll, Ctrl+arrow keys.
Captured with FRAPS and edited with Sony Vegas 6, not that there was much editing in that video.
Yeah, it wasn't action packed racing but we enjoyed it.
That was just an try out for me, I've tried using shift+U on some shorter clips I've tested. It takes time when doing that and this video was made in a couple of hours, including capture time which was at 1/4 speed. My PC isn't the best so I wanted to get the best quality I could.
About the music, I had already captured the whole race in one so I didn't really have bits to take out and didn't have any good songs that were over 6mins so I went with 2 I liked.
Just to say, it might not be video worthy to you, but this chap had been spinning out before this race and didn't feel too good about it. So I think this was a good achievement for him. Well done mate.
I am well aware I was driving equally as bad as he was but their was a method to my madness.
Definatley don't take it personally, it was put out there, so all comments are welcome.
EDIT: @HEAVYSET - Haha I didn't realise you were talking about DieKolkrabe. So you're saying I'm a dirty racer, hmm. I'll be waiting to see you online.
